Steve Marriner & Local Electric
If you know Canadian blues, chances are you already know Steve Marriner—even if you don’t realize it yet. A JUNO Award-winning multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer, Marriner has spent more than two decades carving out a reputation as one of the country’s most versatile and in-demand musicians. He’s equally at home behind a harmonica, baritone guitar, piano, bass or mixing console, and his musical life stretches well beyond any single band or genre.
Many fans will know him as the co-founder, frontman and harmonica powerhouse of MonkeyJunk, the celebrated Canadian blues-rock trio that has earned two JUNO Awards and made history as the first Canadian band to win a Blues Music Award in Memphis. But Steve’s musical life doesn’t stop there. Over the years, he’s toured and recorded with artists including Colin James and Harry Manx, collaborated with an impressive roster of Canadian and international musicians, and become a sought-after producer and session player. In 2026, he was named Blues Producer of the Year at the inaugural Canadian Blues Music Awards, recognizing his work on his own music as well as recordings by Big Dave McLean and David Gogo.
Now, Marriner brings his own music to the stage with Local Electric, his live band for this solo chapter. His latest album, Hear My Heart, released in 2025, is a terrific showcase for the breadth of his musicianship. The album moves comfortably through contemporary blues, rock and roots influences, while giving Marriner room to put his own songwriting, vocals and musicianship front and centre. It also earned a 2026 JUNO nomination, adding another chapter to an already remarkable career.
And if you’re wondering what makes a Steve Marriner show special, the short answer is: expect a musician who can do a lot—and make it look ridiculously easy. After more than 20 years of touring, recording, collaborating and producing, Marriner brings infectious energy, deep musical instincts and the kind of versatility that makes every performance his own. Whether you’ve followed him through MonkeyJunk, discovered him through his work with other Canadian artists, or are hearing him for the first time, this is your chance to experience one of Canada’s most accomplished blues and roots musicians live with The Local Electric.
