Homeboy Sandman

HOMEBOY SANDMAN

Homeboy Sandman represents the most authentic artistry that hip hop has to offer. Passionate, uncompromising, and extraordinarily gifted, the consensus among those familiar with his work is that his contribution to hip hop is among the most profound ever made.

Hailing from Queens, New York, Homeboy Sandman has spent nearly two decades establishing himself as one of the most distinctive and respected voices in underground hip hop. Known for his inventive flows, razor-sharp wordplay, literate lyrics, dry sense of humour and unmistakably original delivery, he has built a career around pushing the boundaries of what an MC can do. His music can be thought-provoking and socially conscious one moment, hilarious and unexpected the next, but always deeply rooted in lyricism and craft.

After beginning his recording career with independent releases including Nourishment, Actual Factual Pterodactyl and The Good Sun, Sandman signed with the legendary California independent label Stones Throw Records in 2011. His Stones Throw catalogue includes acclaimed albums such as First of a Living Breed, Hallways, Kindness for Weakness and Veins, cementing his reputation as one of the most innovative artists in the independent hip-hop scene.

Sandman has also become known for his remarkable collaborations. He is one half of Lice, his long-running partnership with acclaimed rapper and producer Aesop Rock, and the pair have released a series of celebrated projects together. He has also collaborated with artists including Edan, Quelle Chris, Blu, Oddisee, RJD2, Large Professor and Illingsworth.

And Homeboy Sandman is far from resting on his catalogue. 2026 has brought another prolific chapter, including Miami Lice: Season Four, the latest Lice project with Aesop Rock, as well as Resonance Frequency, a new collaboration with multi-Grammy-winning producer Jack Splash featuring guest appearances from hip-hop legend Masta Ace and CeeLo Green.

For longtime hip-hop fans, Homeboy Sandman is a genuine wordsmith whose work rewards close listening. For anyone discovering him for the first time, expect inventive rhymes, unexpected turns, sharp humour and an artist who has spent his career refusing to make the predictable choice.
