Big Daddy Tazz

For more than three decades, Big Daddy Tazz has been making audiences laugh across North America with his trademark combination of storytelling, quick wit, honesty and larger-than-life stage presence. A veteran of the Canadian comedy scene, Tazz has performed at some of the country’s biggest comedy festivals, including Just For Laughs in Montreal, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Moncton Comedy Festival, and has appeared on CBC’s The Debaters, Madly Off in All Directions, Comedy Now, the Comedy Network and other television programs.

But Tazz is more than a comedian. For decades, he has also been a passionate and outspoken mental health advocate, using his own experiences to help break down the stigma surrounding mental illness. His approach is refreshingly human: talk about the hard stuff, find the humour where you can, and remind people that they are not alone. Through comedy, storytelling and countless conversations, Tazz has helped audiences see mental health in a different light—and understand that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

His commitment to mental-health awareness has earned him recognition well beyond the comedy stage. In 2023, Tazz received the John Candy Award for his contributions to both comedy and mental health advocacy.

Known affectionately as “The Bi-Polar Buddha,” Tazz brings an infectious energy and an ability to find the funny in the very human messiness of life. Whether he’s telling a story, riffing with an audience or simply doing what he does best—making people laugh—his comedy comes from a place of authenticity, compassion and a genuine desire to connect.

For this special matinee, we’re bringing together big laughs and an important cause: an afternoon of comedy in support of mental health awareness. And with Big Daddy Tazz leading the way, you can expect plenty of laughter, plenty of heart, and absolutely no boring PowerPoint presentations. 😉
