Far more than a vocal powerhouse, Ollee Owens is an artist whose music moves both body and soul. A 2025 Canadian Blues Music Award winner for Emerging Artist of the Year, Ollee brings an emotionally charged, deeply authentic energy to every performance.
Raised in the Canadian Prairies, music was always a part of Ollee’s world. Inspired by artists including Elvis, Odetta, The Band, Mavis Staples, Bonnie Raitt and Bob Dylan, she found her own voice through songwriting, using music as a way to make sense of life and give a voice to the experiences and emotions that shape us.
After stepping away from performing for 15 years to raise a family, Ollee never truly left music behind. She volunteered as a music therapist, continued writing songs and performed whenever she could. In 2015, a performance at Calgary’s legendary Blues Can caught the attention of the late Bill Dowey, whose encouragement helped reignite her dream of pursuing music professionally.
Since then, Ollee has played hundreds of shows across Western Canada, Ireland and as far south as Beale Street in Memphis, sharing stages with acclaimed artists including Matt Anderson, Blue Moon Marquee, Julian Taylor, Tim Williams, Albert Castiglia and Dawn Tyler Watson. She kicked off 2025 with a dynamic performance at the legendary B.B. King’s in Memphis and continues to bring her music to stages and festivals across Canada and internationally.
With the warmth of Mavis Staples and the soulful delivery of Bonnie Raitt, Ollee combines her original material with unique interpretations of well-known—and long-forgotten—songs. Her live shows are unpretentious, intimate and powerful, creating the perfect backdrop for her remarkably diverse vocal range.
Her 2024 album, Nowhere to Hide, has received widespread acclaim across North America, Europe and Australia, with airplay on more than 1,000 radio stations worldwide. As The Sound Cafe’s Stevie Connor wrote, the album “offers a perfect blend of celebration and introspection,” solidifying Owens’ place in the Canadian music landscape.
